New England Patriots Say Goodbye To Tom Brady
Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California. Brady was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2000. During the quarterback’s 20 years with the Patriots, he won three NFL MVP awards, four Super Bowl MVP awards, and six Super Bowl championship rings.
Brady was suspended in 2015 after investigations of illegal deflation of footballs that happened during an important playoff game. In the 2016 football season, Brady sat out for four weeks. This did not deter his performance that year; he went on to help the Patriots win Super Bowl LI.
Brady’s Personal Life
The quarterback split up with his longtime girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, late in 2006. The two have a son together, his name is John Edward Thomas Moynahan. He married Gisele Bϋndchen in February 2009. The couple’s son, Benjamin was born in December of 2009. Their daughter, Vivian was born in 2012.
How Did Brady Say That He Was Leaving?
On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, the quarterback superstar made several posts on his Instagram account saying goodbye to the Patriots. Though he never mentions what team he shall be joining, he has expressed that he shall be exploring his options.
In one of his posts, he wrote, “To all my teammates, coaches, executives and staff, Coach Belichick, RKK and the Kraft family and the entire organization. I am grateful for all that you have taught me – I have learned from everyone. I have benefited from all you have given me. I cherish every opportunity I had.”
How Do Some of the Patriots Feel About This?
He had repeatedly stated that he wanted to play until he was 45. Unfortunately, a contract compromise could not be reached. Robert Kraft (owner of the Patriots) noted that Brady went over to his house the night of March 16, 2020, and discussed the matter. In a statement to ESPN, Kraft said, “We had a positive, respectful discussion. It’s not the way I want it to end, but I want him to do what is best in his personal interest.”
Belichick had nothing but kind words to say about Brady, “Tom’s success as a player and his character as a person are exceptional.” Patriot fans all over are deeply heartbroken by this news.
